Tips for Longer Your Laptop Battery Life

If you want to save more battery life and make the battery life last longer, there are two aspects which you should notice, one aspect is related to the battery itself, another aspect is related to how to use your laptop.

Tips for how to use the battery

Tip 1:

Charge your battery only when it is out of power; do not charge your laptop too often, it will reduce the ability of the battery to hold its own power longer.

Tip 2:

The brand of the battery must as same as to the original battery which is came with the laptop. And you had better don’t try to use other source of power, as every one knows that it is not good to the laptop itself.

Tip 3:

You had better charge your battery only when it is in low power or out of energy, and recharge it fully. And if you do not use your battery, the battery should also be in full charged stage for storage as the battery will self-discharge when it is left unused.

Tip 4:

Keep your battery clean with a wet cloth regularly; it will improve the transfer of power between the battery and your laptop.

Tip 5:

it is bad for your full charged battery to leave alone for a long time, it had better to use it twice every month.

Tip 6:

If you are going to use a new battery, there are some tips for you. You had better charge your new battery to a full stage as the new battery is in a discharged condition. It is better for you to fully charge and discharge your new battery for at least three times; by doing this, it will maximize the capacity of the battery.

Tip 7:

If your battery will be left alone for quite some time, please store your battery in a cool and dry place. The Ni-Cd, NiMH and Li-ion batteries can be stored as they will self-discharge during storage. Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries must be kept at full charge during storage. This is usually achieved by using special trickle chargers. If you do not have a trickle charger, do not attempt to store SLA batteries for more than three months.

Tip 1:

Make your laptop ventilate enough, if your laptop is over heated, it not only does harm to your laptop but also requires more battery energy to run the laptop. There is no doubt that it will shorten the battery life.

Tip 2:

Dim your laptop screen to the level you can tolerate, it will save some battery life.

Tip 3:

Do not turn on too much programs, if you may don’t use some program now, you can turn if off, and if you do not surf the web or go through the internet, you can also turn of the antivirus and the firewall program. What’s more, do not set too many programs as auto startup, which require more battery energy to run your laptop. And turn off the Email if unnecessary as it will cost lots of battery energy by refresh itself constantly.

Tip 4:

Low down the sound or turn off the sound on your laptop. There is a big difference between turn on the sound and turn off or low down the sound. If you turn on the sound, the battery will run up 7 times energy. And there is a good choice for you to watch movies or listen to music with your microphone. Save the energy of your laptop battery.

Tip 5:

Defrag your laptop hard drive usually, you will benefit from which by saving more energy and receiving a faster speed to run the programs. As the hard drive is a power tiger, so if you add more RAM, it will increase the chances for your laptop to use the RAM instead of the hard drive.

Tip 6:

You can maximize your battery power. In the “control panel”, you will find the “power options” and in which there is a “max battery”, choose this choice to maximize your battery energy.

Tip7:

It is not so good to charge your MP4 or others by plugging on the laptop. It will make the battery out of power very soon.

Tip 8:

If you will leave your laptop alone for a period time, it is better for you to set your laptop in a hibernate mode, because in this mode, the laptop will save the current state and shuts itself completely instead that turn off the hard drive and screen while the memory and CPU is still at work.
