Posted by: lang In: Dell laptop|Free Talk ()

When Dell first released its Adamo laptops, we are attracted by their exquisite design, while dell now is going to demonstrate his excellence in industrial design again. How thin the laptop can be? Many people may think that the Apple’s MacBook Air has told us the answer. But Dell has beyond it again with his 9.9mm thick laptop: Dell Adamo XPS. When a 9.9mm laptop is in front of you, do you feel an upsurge of emotion?
Dell Adamo XPS features an aluminum coat which makes Dell Adamo XPS cool. Indeed, it is very strange if such a high-end product doesn’t come with a aluminum coat, more, the aluminum is light itself, which will reduce Dell Adamo XPS’s whole weight.

Dell Adamo XPS is just 13.39 inches wide and 10.78 inches long, and 0.41 inches thick at the rear part and 0.38 inches at the front, which is much thinner than a mobile phone. Furthermore, Adamo’s lid has a larger footprint than the lower half, and when closed, the keyboard essentially fits inside the inset lid.

Adamo XPS has a unique design for opening the laptop; many people will be confused about how to open this machine. Do you see a groove on the lip, there is a capacitive sensing device, you just need to flash your finger across the groove, and the laptop can be opened. Well, such an amazing design needs power support, so if your battery is out of power, you may be not able to open your Adamo XPS laptop.

Dell Adamo XPS features a 13.4 inches LED screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and has a 1,366-by-768 resolution. There is a built-in camera on the top of the screen; I don’t think it is an easy thing for Dell to put this camera in such a thin screen.

There is no doubt that it has to pay a price to pursuit of thin and light. On one hand, the performance of Adamo XPS has been limited; on the other hand, the numbers of the interfaces is less than average laptop.
As we can see, the interfaces are all located on the both sides of screen.
On the left side of Adamo XPS, there is a DisplayPort connector, one USB port.

On the right side of Dell Adamo XPS, there is a headphone jack, one USB port, an audio jack and a fairly unusually shaped power connector.

The Adamo XPS comes with 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi as standard, with an option for a Dell Bluetooth 2.1 adapter.
Dell Adamo XPS may be a little larger than the average 13-inch laptops according to its battery. When Adamo XPS is fully opened, the keyboard sits at maybe a 20-degree angle. It will help the laptop stay cool.

Dell Adamo XP comes with a full size keyboard, as well as a well-spaced metal keycaps. What’s more, the keyboard actually tilts forward so it is more comfortable for you to type it on a flat keyboard.

The keyboard is designed simply, there are no any shortcut keys on the keyboard, and the chiclet-style keyboard is very popular nowadays.
The Dell Adamo XP is just equipped with nothing but a power button on the top of keyboard, and there is just a state indicator next to the power button.

As a newcomer to Adamo XP, we can not find where the “ESC” button is at first. Then we will see it as well as other function keys on the top of the keyboard, they are small and narrow so we are easy to ignore them.

Font geeks will appreciate the new, futuristic font the system uses for letters and numbers. The keyboard of Dell Adamo XPS has the backlight function, so you can type easily on the keyboard in the dark.

The touchpad of Dell Adamo XPS is a little traditional, and there is no fingerprint device, what a pity.

Now we have a look on the bottom of Dell Adamo XPS, the bottom part also comes with metal shell. In order to keep the laptop cooler, there are two fans on both sides of the bottom, which is seldom in such kind of thin and light laptop.

Dell Adamo XPS’s two fans can effectively guarantee the internal body cool, and the speed of the fans is not too high, so you don’t worry about the noise of fans is too loud.
I think Dell’s engineers are perfectionists in that the logo “Dell” on the bottom is basso-relievo, which definitely increases their cost, but they pay more attention to the details of their laptops.

As we know, the interfaces of Dell Adamo XPS are a little less even there is no Ethernet port. Well, Dell has taken this into consideration; there are two Extension Device Interfaces to enhance the extensions of Dell Adamo XPS. One is USB-Ethernet adapter, another is Display-DVI adapter, which is easy for user to audio output.

As the Dell Adamo XPS is thin and light, so it just weighs about 1.4 kg, and if added the adapter, the weight of Dell Adamo XPS is just 1.7kg. It is just as light as a netbook.

The battery of the Adamo XPS can be removed. For the sake of reduce volume of the laptop; the standard battery is a 4-cell, 20-WHr lithium-ion battery, with an option for a 40-WHr battery. As the Dell Adamo XPS is not a power tiger, so the battery can last up to one hour.

The Adamo XPS will be available before this summer, while the starting price is still unknown.
