First of all, turn off your laptop, and remove the battery to avoid risk.
Flip ThinkPad Edge E30 upside down, there is a big hatch on the bottom, and it is easy for you to take this hatch out. Remove screws which hold the hatch in place, then you will see what the things are under the hatch.
