M11x has some shortcomings. First and most important, although switchable graphics cards can extend the battery life, it is very difficult to upgrade, and NVIDIA Verde generic driver does not support this proposal. Secondly, 32nm Core 2 CULV Ultra Low Voltage processor has some outdated, while the new upgraded 32nm Arrandale Core ix CULV can do better in both performance and power consumption, besides the integrated graphics core, hyperthreading, Turbo Boost Dynamic Acceleration Technology.
Now Alienware M11x has been upgraded (here let us call it M11x R2), M11x R2 comes with Core 2 CULV Ultra Low Voltage processor. Alienware M11x also supports switch on the Optimus graphics automatically switch technology.

M11x prime processor are Pentium SU4100, Core 2 Duo SU7300, however, M11x R2 is equipped with more powerful Core i5-520UM, Core i7-640UM processors.

M11x R2 is with a cooler black finish, the shell has matt processing; the keyboard felt a little small, but the background light is sparkling.
According to preliminary performance test, Alienware M11x R2 PCMark Vantage scores raised 36%, 3DMark series also increases 5-15%. Alienware offers 257.30 Beta graphics driver which is not perfect, when running 3DMark, PCMark testing, it encountered some errors.
