In this article, I will attempt to introduce 5 distinctive laptops that launched at 2010, they are ASUS NX90, Apple Macbook Air, Dell Alienware M17X, Sony E Series (EA300C, EA2S), and Lenovo Ideapad Y460p. Each of them is the master device in their own orienting field, which can attact not only people’s attention, but also arouse potential consumers’ buying desire at the same time.

ASUS NX90—Audio Processing Master

ASUS NX90 laptop

In first impression, ASUS NX90 resembles the Sphinx in Egypt. But the shock it gives us doesn’t limited to this. ASUS NX90 is the first laptop in stainless steel finish that ASUS launched, the world’s first laptop in external speaker design, the world’s first laptop who dedicated to reproduce the original sound, the world’s first laptop with dual-pad design. The laptop design on ASUS NX90 is a time of subversive attempt, but also a challenge.

ASUS NX90 comes with two large ears that indicate the orientation of this device. As a matter of fact, ASUS NX90 has taken advantage of Bang & Olufsen authentic speaker, which ensures the device deliver the highest audio fidelity. It is no exaggeration to say ASUS NX90 is a super master in audio processing.

Apple Macbook Air

In fact, almost all of us have appreciated the charms of Apple MacBook Air. What has impressed us most is its peerless slim architecture with 2.8mm in the thinnest part. Apple MacBook Air implements flash drive (capacity ranging from 64G to 256G), which makes the device more responsive. As with low-power solid-state hard drive and high-capacity lithium polymer battery, Apple claimed that the new MacBook Air can stand up to 30 days after a single charge. Apple has provided its consumers with 11.6 –inch version and 13-inch version to choose from.

The Dell Inspiron breaks that tradition and released the new Dell inspiron Duo. It’s a netbook that you really need to get your hands on, so that you can feel its smoothly rounded contours, swivel its screen to turn it into a tablet, and drop it into its inviting dock.

Design
The Duo is a convertible netbook with a twist,it is about 11.2 x 7.7 x 1 inches and 3 pounds, Rather than having to swivel the screen 180-degrees before folding it flat against the keyboard, the Inspiron Duo has a far easier and cooler method: the screen spins in the bezel.

The bottom of the Dell Inspiron Duo

Keyboard
The Dell Inspiron Duo is really works in the laptop’s favour, as there’s more room underneath for a keyboard. With larger keys compared to other 10.1in netbooks, the Inspiron Duo is surprisingly easy and comfortable to type on. All of the Chiclet-style keys are in the right place, too, bar the backslash, which sits underneath the Backspace key, although this doesn’t take long to get used to.

Also, the touchpad is sunk into metal-effect wrist wrest above two easy-to-reach buttons, is fairly roomy. The pad does support multitouch gestures, and while they were responsive, two-finger scrolling was far from accurate. Lightly swiping to fingers downwards took us right to the bottom of this very technology site rather than halfway down the page or down a post or two.

Interface
The Duo also has two USB ports hidden under a flap, plus sockets for headphones and a power adaptor. It’s designed to connect via Wi-Fi, and if you want an RJ-45 Ethernet port for wired broadband, there’s one on the optional dock. The dock also has two more USB ports, a 7-in-one card reader, speakers and volume/mute controls, and it works as a charger.

Performance and battery life
The DuoStage software definitely slows down the entire system, but when just running Windows 7 Home Premium the Duo’s 1.5GHz dual-core Atom N550 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 320GB 7,200rpm drive keeps things running fairly well.

About the battery life,it`s additional weakness make the Duo’s crappy screen and sluggish software, The 29Whr four-cell battery isn’t user replaceable, which will be an issue if you want to use it out and about since it won’t last for longer than three hours on a charge..

It must be good news for XPS fans that Dell XPS is back! The new Dell XPS notebook series includes 14-inch, 15 inch and 17-inch three sizes, a massive debut. Being different from the previous notebooks, the new Dell XPS is defined as the flagship of audio-visual notebook.

Features of XPS notebook given by Dell:

• JBL / Waves of high-quality audio

• LED backlit display and B+RG full HD screen dedicated for 15-inch notebook

• Certified by Skype to support smooth HD video transmission

• Watch 3D movies, games and photos by connecting to big 3D screen

• Anodized aluminum shell with high strength and wear resistance

We are about to review XPS 14 series, Dell XPS L401X. We may remind of the previous XPS products which look strong and rigid. And Dell XPS L401X also adopts anodized aluminum top cover. Dell XPS L401X utilizes a 14-inch glossy screen with resolution of 1366 x 768. Though 14-inch Dell XPS L401X hasn’t used full HD screen, the glossy screen delivers better light transmission.

Classic XPS LOGO

Dell XPS L401X Webcam

Dell notebook is always designed in simple style. According to some details, we can find that Dell XPS L401X‘s edge is treated to be smooth while Alienware notebooks seem angular, which is the difference between audio-visual notebook and gaming notebook.

The chasis is still made of traditional plastic, plus a layer of silver paint, so that it looks somewhat metallic.

In terms of overall keyboard design, Dell XPS L401X continues the same style of Dell. And speakers are located above the keyboard on both sides while power switch and function keys are set in the center.

We also find the famous JBL logo on the upper left of the keyboard, which means the speakers of this notebook are produced by JBL. Through the actual lyrics, the speakers do performance well in medium high frequency.

It is necessary for a high-end product Dell XPS L401X to feature versatile. XPS L401X uses a backlit keyboard and the user can turn on and off the backlight by hand. There are two options of backlight intensity.

Dell XPS L401X can support a key to close the touchpad, so that users don’t worry about touching the touchpad when typing. The indicator will turn red in the closed state.

Logo and indicator at the back of keyboard

However, we think it unreasonable to place the hard disk indicator at the back for it requires user to lower down the screen to observe it. Maybe Dell considers that it is unimportant for most users.

It is sure that XPS is emphasized on the beauty of lines. We find that Dell XPS L401X has designed its two sides of interfaces in gorgeous curves. There are USB interfaces, audio interface, card reader interfaces, cable interface, etc.

Windows Mobility Center is also a very useful tool for users to adjust the screen brightness, volume, or turn on or off the wireless LAN, Bluetooth and other equipment.

My WiFi enables people to share Internet access function. The reason why this Dell XPS L401X support MyWifi, mainly because the laptop has equipped with built-in Intel wireless card, which most of mainstream Intel wireless cards support MyWifi technology.

Dell XPS L401X sports powerful Intel Core i7 740QM processor, 4GB memory and 500GB hard drive. Besides, XPS L401X also ships with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M graphics card which could support 3D display technology.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M belongs to mid-level NVIDIA graphics card. The reason why Dell XPS hasn’t equipped with high-performance graphics card is due to the product positioning of an audio-visual notebook.
After experiencing the process of replacing the Dell laptop motherboard, we have a certain understanding on the notebook’s internal structure. We found that the current mainstream notebook can be upgraded their own memory, hard drives, optical drives and other components at a ease (in fact, replacing the CPU is not too difficult.) In addition, we suggest that you clean up the CPU fan every six months, or it will cause bad heat transfer and cause noise and so on.

Dell just showed off its 10-inch Atom-powered Inspiron Duo Tablet at the Intel Developer Forum. New slick designed Dell Inspiron Duo Tablet allows being converted into a netbook just by opening the hidden keyboard and swiveling the screen.

Dell Inspiron Duo Tablet got a 10-inch screen, houses a dual-core Atom N550 and runs Windows 7 Premium. Dell was demonstrating how a fairly standard 10″ Inspiron Duo transform from dell tablet to netbook on stage.

“There are times that you have to do work. Tablets are great for entertainment, but they aren’t exactly conducive to productivity,” a Dell representative said at the conference. That’s when he revealed the hidden keyboard.

Then he deployed the keyboard, Dell Inspiron Duo tablet looks like a normal, reasonably thin netbook, except for the screen or bezel. However, with one push of a thumb, the screen swivels around the midpoint and the bezel is revealed as a frame. The screen starts to rotate into the alternative appearance.

When the screen is fully rotated, now Dell Inspiron Duo netbook appears. Only with the lid practically closed, it would pass as an ordinary dell tablet.

Dell did not disclose other configurations of Dell Inspiron Duo tablet as well as price and launch date, but Inspiron Duo is expected to be out officially at the end of the year.
