The new member of Dell Vostro designed for small business, the Dell Vostro V13 is compact enough and with the excellent performance and efficiency. Even the vice president of small and medium enterprise market, Sam Burd, also uses the Vostro V13.

Vostro V13 focuses on the business, and is based on the CULV platform. The Dell Vostro V13 is equipped with 13.3-inch high-definition display, Core 2 Solo SU3500 ULV processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320G hard drives.

Can Vostro V13 really be thin and good? We disassemble it to explore it.

To disassemble a laptop, you need to prepare a screwdriver, clear mind and patience.

We usually start to with the keyboard bezel of most Dell laptops, so does the Vostro V13.

First of all, insert the screwdriver into the right side keyboard bezel and lift it up carefully, then you can remove the whole keyboard bezel easily.

Then, remove the keyboard of Dell Vostro V13.

This is the keyboard removed from the laptop, there are just two screws five buckles holding the keyboard stably.

Under the keyboard, there is a spill resistant metal plate, which protects the motherboard circuit from water. Because under the spill resistant metal plate, there is cable connected with motherboard, so you should be careful when you disassemble.

We can see from the above picture, when we removed the keyboard, we can install memory, Bluetooth, SIM 3G card. To our surprise, the Dell Vostro V13 is equipped with the metal anti-roll frame which is similar to that of most Lenovo ThinkPad laptops to strengthen the hardness of the laptop body.

The memory is installed under the keyboard bezel which is different from most Dell laptops. Fortunately, the keyboard is not difficult to be removed, so it is not too complicated to replace the memory.

Dell Vostro V13 supports DDR3 memory, and the Dell Vostro V13 is equipped with a 2GB DDR3 1066MHZ memory module.

Heat sink of Vostro V13 is under the switch, we worry about that whether the laptop will overheat in the process of use with this design, fortunately, Vostro V13 performs well.

Dell Vostro V13 supports WWAN, so there is a SIM slot as you can see on the above picture.

Continue to disassemble the Dell Vostro V13, turn the bottom side of Dell Vostro V13 up, remove all the screws at the bottom side, and then remove the heave metal shell.

We find that the bottom metal shell is very thick and heavy, it is about 1mm thick. We can know that the quality of the Dell laptops is very good. If they use the plastic instead of the metal material, it will be much lighter.

Dell Vostro V13 takes the HDD protection into account, which is important for business users to protect their data.

Vostro V13 features a 320G Seagate 7200.4 HDD, the performance of it is in the high level.  V13 uses the 320G Seagate 7200.4 notebook hard drive performance in its class in the middle of the upper level.

WWAN card slot and WLAN Card slot are located in the V13 side by side; the whole structure is very compact.

Vostro V13 is just with a 54M Dell 1397 WLAN, but it supports the 11n network card, so if you require for faster speed, the 11n network card will be your choice.

The Dell is not the manufacture of the wireless network card, as we can see, the manufacture of it is the world’s first wireless communications semiconductor company.

If you want to connect the web, you can buy a WWAN card such as the DELL 5530 card which sounds good.

Dell presets the antenna for the WWAN card, which is a thoughtful.

The motherboard of Vostro V13 is so small.

Vostro V13 comes with Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300, Core 2 Solo SU3500, or Celeron 743 processors and with Intel 4500MHD graphics. It will meet the daily use. But it seems that the GPU and CPU are soldered on the motherboard, which is difficult for you to replace it.
