There are eight points for notebook computer maintenance process you must pay attention to. Sharing with you herein.

First, pay attention LCD protection. LCD protection film will not demolish bacause it can avoid the dust and fingerprints; Do not use sharp objects such as pens, etc. direct contact with the LCD screen, it would be likely to make LCD scratched. Laptop can not bear too heavy objects on its top, it might be led LCD to the breakdown. You should pay attention to product packaging bag mark about the biggest bear weight. You can stick industrial alcohol or glass cleaner on a soft cotton cloth to gently wipe the LCD screen in a straight-line method, but do not excessive so as to avoid into the LCD cracks, causing short circuits and LCD line corrosion.

Secondly, pay attention to battery maintenance. Heat is the killer affecting chemical activity, in a long-term electricity will not only result in the battery temperature is too high, the relative high temperature also affect the chemical activity of the battery, accumulated for a long time will lead the battery chemical energy slowly lower, and finally reduce the time of the battery power supply. Therefore, customers who use an external power supply prolonged should remove the battery after the battery is full, that is to ensure that the chemical activity of the battery in the best. If the battery is a long time without using, you must charge and discharge it at least once a month. When the first access to notebook computer, the battery should be sufficient for eight hours in order to allow the battery to maintain the best condition.

Third, pay attention to maintain the keyboard. The keyboard is very easy to accumulat a number of inter-city dust. The dust can be cleaned with a brush in the gap, or using the general the camera lens cleaning, high-pressure spray device cans, blow out the dust. As for the top of the keyboard, it can be cleaned with the steady-cleaning spray soft cloth, then lightly over the keyboard, so not only grease on the keyboard can be easily removed, can also increase the friction between the keyboard with your fingers, so playing words will more smoothly. However, people should be careful not to sprinkle water on your keyboard, which could lead to serious damage to the internal printed circuit board, and personally at risk. If this case happens, you should be cut off power immediately, remove the battery, and then look for professionals to deal with, do not self-demolition, this may increase damage.

Fourth, note that the use of the hard disk. Generally speaking, the most vulnerable is when the hard disk is the startup and shutdown. When the hard disk boot activation, the motor rotation has not yet stabilized, at this time shocking, then, disc is prone to make bad sectors. While the shutdown, the hard disk platter is not completely static, we arbitrarily moved, this time is also very likely to cause harm to the hard disk. In addition, the notebook computer should be in a stable situation, to avoid use the computer in the train, car and other shaking locations, that can extend the life of the hard disk!

Fifth, pay attention to protect CD/DVD-ROM and floppy disk driver. Try to avoid smoking next to computer when using the CD/DVD-ROM, the nicotine in cigarettes would be gathered in the CD/DVD laser head, resulting in reading disabilities. Do not use low-quality discs, irregular shape of the disc, or they will be severely damaged laser head. Usually available CD/DVD cleaning tablets, cleaning CD/DVD read head. Floppydisk driver, too, try not to read floppy disk which is not read too long or have been slightly moldy.

Sixth, pay attention to fans care. Should regularly check whether there is dust accumulation caused by the fan cooling bad, and then affect the stability of the computer. Dust can be cleaned with a small brush, stretching into the internal fan, gently wipe. ASUS notebook computers, just starting up its machines, it will automatically test your computer’s fan, if the fan is no response, we recommend that you contact with the service station in order to avoid overheating causing damage to the machine.

Seventh, pay attention to the use of touch pad. Keep hands clean when using the touchpad to avoid the mouse pointer run around. If surface is dirty, you can gently wipe clean with soft cloth. Touchpad adopts electrostatic induction principle, do not use sharp objects writing above, nor do the weight to use, so as to avoid damage and distortion.

Eighth, other considerations. Switch on/off LCD cover gently, in order to avoid too heavy due to LCD cable loose, then causing the screen flicker. If your laptop screen left and right sides of the card-style bamboo design, open on both sides want to dictate the same time in order to to avoid the card-lock due to dictate uneven fracture; avoid unattended laptop computer, prevent errors caused by sitting LCD rupture. When put away laptops to purses, remember the department’s internal buckling in order to avoid unintentional opening lead fall and the damage; notebook computer bag is usually after the design load, back-laws in general no problem, but too much debris into the strap can be overloaded and the fracture; normally do not laptop long time of exposure in the overheated carriages, the notebook computer parts that will lead to premature aging; should be regularly updated drivers in order to ensure notebook compatibility and stability, regular backups of important information in the notebook in order to reduce the risk of data loss; Unless there are special instructions, or notebook computers are not all the peripheral interface to connect peripheral devices when the boot; laptop computers are high-frequency electronic devices, to avoid external interference, such as mobile phones, can not be placed in a notebook computer that is running, otherwise, to the phone may lead to laptop crashes or automatic shutdown.

How to restore the dark screen to bright?

Lamps have already gone out if you confirm that the screen is brightest and still evident dark than before when used in AC power supply. You must replace the corresponding models of lamp.

Will the heat affect the LCD?

Only the heat reach a certain temprature. For example, it will lead LCD screen appear a row of dead pixels or make LCD brightness uneveen of you put screen direct expourse under the sun. But it does not have any effect when work in the generally heat .

What are laptop screen size ?

Generally are 10.4-inch, 12.1 inches, 13.3 inches, 14.1-inch, 15-inch, 15.4-inch, 17-inch. At the same time the majority of notebook screens are now using a widescreen LCD. The same diagonal size LCD, the actual size of wide-screen is smaller than the normal 4:3
screen.

Does laptop screen have radiation on the human body?

Any electronic device will have radiation on the human body, but the laptop’s LCD screen is much smaller as compared with CRT display inthe radiation on the human body. Laptop screen can be very easy to reach environmental standards, is a relatively green
electronic products.

How to open LCD screen reduce shaft wear and tear?

The best way is using both hands to open and close the screen softly and slowly, and avoid uneven dictate your hands on the screen, that can delay the screen deformation and fracture which due to uneven force.

Can replace the screen backlight tubes?

Sure. However, you must use the corresponding types of backlight lamp. To replace lamps also need to disassemble the screen. It may damage the the reflector panels and TFT panel, eventually leading LCD screen display not as effectively as before. We do not recommend this method unless can not find can be used screen. If you must adopt this approach, please entrust professional maintenance staff.

Is it able to link laptop LCD screen to desktop computer?

The answer is yes, but it is a difficult problem. If you want to implement this idea, you must transform the laptop LCD screen lamp, liquid crystal display power supply, data cable, frame fixed and other parts, so that it can compatible with desktop graphics cards. It is really difficult.

The cost of High-resolution LCD screen is higher than the low-resolution LCD screen, but high-resolution notebook is not necessarily suitable for all types of users. If it is at the same price, you must be based on your individual application requirements as the sole judging criteria.

Here is a misunderstanding, that is confusing LCD and CRT monitors resolution, people hold the opinion that the laptop LCD screen resolution is adjustable. Such as laptop LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200, if they feel the font is too small in 1920 × 1200 display mode. Can resolve the small font problem by adjust to 1680 × 1050 or 1440 × 900? The actual situation shows that the resolution on the laptop LCD screen to make any changes will affect its display, there will be a small degree of burr light phenomenon, can also cause stretch.

How to solve the high-resolution LCD screen font smaller problem? There is another method that is to change the font in Display Properties WINDOWS option: click the right mouse button on no icon region of the desktop, then click the property,or click on control panel, then“Appearance Theme”, choose “display font size”. But in that case, it will erase the advantages of high-resolution LCD screen.

The main advantage ofthe high score screen is providing a natural field of vision and more work area, such as panoramic animation, sophisticated financial statements, cross-page file operations, the biggest advantage is that we can enable users to increase the working area, it could also show more of content, so users can simultaneously conduct a number of work without frequent switching. Encounter such trouble with this, it is better one-step selection of a LCD screen size and resolution are suitable for laptop.

Therefore, the proposals we give about laptop LCD screen resolution are:

1,For the need for greater perspective of users, as far as possible the selection of large-size notebook, but the larger resolution must be priority in the same size of the LCD screen.

2, For users who require larger fonts, select portable notebook while the size meet the requirements. But in the same resolution the smaller size of the LCD screen the more priority should be given, of course, you can also change the font size to make the font become bigger.

Base on our repair experience, we summarized the following methods that can solve most of LCD screen tearing problems ( It’s best to exclude problems according the gradual process in practice).

First: Check the connection between the LCD display and graphics is loose. It is the most common phenomenon that apppear clutter waves.

Second: Check Graphic card is overclocked. If the Graphic card is overclocked to use, they often turn up irregular and discontinuous stripes. Then ,you should appropriately reduce overclocking range. First of all is to reduce the frequency memory.

Third: Check the quality of Graphic card. If Screen Tearing comes out after you have replaced Graphic card and practised the first and second step, you should check the Graphic card of anti-electromagnetic interference and the quality of electromagnetic shielding are qualified. Put some of the components that may result in electromagnetic interference away from the Graphics card when you installing (such as hard disk), then look at whether Screen Tearing is disappear. You should replace the Graphics card or doing home-made shielding if the Graphics card’s electromagnetic shielding function is ineligible.

Fourth: Check the display resolution or refresh rate set is too high. LCD resolution is generally lower than CRT monitors, if it exceeds the manufacturer’s recommended best resolution, there may present Screen Tearing phenomenon to you .

Fifth: Check whether have installed incompatible graphics card driver. Such cases are generally easily overlooked for the pace of the graphics card driver update is increasing (in particular, NVIDIA graphics card). Some users always install the latest version of the driver. In fact, some drivers are either the latest beta version, or specific for graphics card or a game-optimized version, sometimes using such drivers may lead to the emergence of Screen Tearing. Therefore, it is recommended you to use the graphics card drivers manufacturers provide.

Sixth: If you still can not solve the problem after having used five methods above, there may be the quality problems of displays. Please replace the other display.

Knowledge on Screen Tearing
Screen tearing is a phenomenon in video where a newly rendered frame overlaps a previously rendered frame, creating a torn look as edges of objects (such as a wall or a tree) fail to line up. This occurs when the video card or the software using it begins updating the actively-displayed memory in a manner that is out of sync with the monitor’s refresh rate.

Tearing can occur with most common display technologies and video cards, and is most frequently seen on systems where horizontally-moving visuals are commonly found, such as in slow camera pans in a movie, or classic side-scrolling video games. The material being shown may also exhibit vertical stretching or shrinking, or repeated parts of images, during vertical motion, depending on the nature of the video.

Do you know how to replace a LCD screen? Once master it, you will feel it is very easy. Now, I’d like to share its process:

Step1. Purchase a LCD screen which is compatible with your laptop, shut down the computer, remove the battery and unplug it.

Step2. Use a small flat head or Phillips screw driver to remove the screws that hold the screen. Since every computer model is different, so you will have to search for the screw covers to gain access to the screen.

Step3. After removing all the screws, pull the screen away from the bezel.

Step4. Check the two main wires running from the screen to the laptop: Video cable and power cable. The video cable is usually taped in place. Remove the tape and then disconnect the ribbon from the LCD screen. As to the power cable, if you are just replacing the LCD screen, you will continue to use the inverter, leaving it as it is. However, if you are replacing the inverter as well, disconnect the power cable and unscrew the inverter from its mount.

Step5. Test the screen, just power up your computer. If the screen is working properly, shut down the computer and screw in the screen to the bezel and cover the screws with the plastic or rubber caps.

Have you mastered it, now? If necessary, try it by yourself!

Or you can use on-line check service, please note that the on-line tool tells your screen resolution and it only makes sense if you did not change factory default screen settings in Windows or Mac OS.

On-line Resolution Check.

3. Backlight Type.

Generally, there are two types of backlight in the market, CCFL and LED backlight. CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) needs an inverter, but LED backlight needn’t, which uses light-emitting diodes as a source of light. Now the used most is CCFL backlight. As we know that desktop has double or three backlight for the monitor brightness, but taking account of power issue, notebooke screen brightness is reduced, so most of notebook screens only use Single backlight, especially in small size, and some use Dual backlight.

Single backlight, only one bulb with only one inverter connector in the screen, most used in the market.

So Dual backlight means: two bulbs in the screen with two inverter connector, not so much used.

LED backlight is a new type, used in some latest models. Led screen only has one socket to connect a video cable, no inverter cable. Usually, users can find the specifics in its laptop if using a LED screen.

NOTE:

There are mainly two types of LCD screen on the market, Matte and Glossy screens. In order to scatter reflected light on the LCD screen surface, there’s a anti-glare finish on Matte screens. And Glossy screens remove the optical coating, increasing a highly reflective coating, that will effectively improve the performance of contrast and color. So Glossy screens are better for graphics and video display. Matte screens are beneficial to eyesight protection, especially work for a long time.

HERE comes a diagram for different companies call its own glossy screens:

There are a few basic DIY hacks to remove an unsightly scratch from your LCD monitor or TV. These hacks may seem like they would never work, but dozens of wikiHow readers have reported they worked miracles. That said, others have not been so lucky.

Steps：

Vaseline Method

1.Clean the surface of the screen.

2.Take some Vaseline and fill the scratch with it.

3.Gently wipe off the excess Vaseline, being careful not to press too deeply so as to leave some inside the scratch.

4.Voila. Hypothetically, this works because the optical density more closely matches the LCD face than air. However, it can make the scratch more noticeable.

Pencil Eraser Method

1.Find a pencil with a clean, soft eraser. It must have no pencil graphite on it as you won’t want to smudge that on your monitor.

2.Lightly rub the eraser over the scratch or nick on the screen.

3.Keep rubbing until the scratch completely disappears [1].

Scratch Repair Kit

1.Type this into a search engine: +LCD +Scratch +Repair

2.The plus sign makes the search results include those words.

3.Maybe Scratch Pro will work for you.

4.Either way, test any repair ideas on something unimportant (if possible).

Warnings

Users have reported mixed results with these methods. Be cautious. Read the discussion page of this article to read how this has worked for other people.

Things you need

A clean, soft pencil eraser OR Vaseline.

Source from wikiHow

This guide is mainly about how to remove and replace a damaged LCD screen in a HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook. This guide should work for all models in Pavilion dv2000 line. By the way, this HP Pavilion dv2000 is like a small copy of HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook and all disassembly steps will be very similar.

Before start, please turn off the laptop, unplug the power adapter and remove the battery.

STEP 1.

The LCD screen is mounted between the display cover and bezel. The screen bezel is secured to the display cover by six screws hidden under six screw seals. Please circled these screw seals.

Remove all seals with a sharp object and after that remove all screws found under the seals.

STEP 2.

Start separating the screen bezel from the display cover on one of the top corners.

Continue separating the screen bezel.

Remove the screen bezel.

STEP 3.

The inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp hidden inside the LCD screen. In most notebooks the inverter board is mounted below the LCD screen. In my guide I will not be removing the inverter board and because of that I will unplug only one cable from the right side.

STEP 4.

Remove four screws securing the display hinges to the cover.

STEP 5.

Carefully separate the display assembly from the cover and place the LCD face down on the keyboard.

Now you can access the LCD cable (video cable) connector. The LCD cable connects the screen to the the motherboard.

STEP 6.

Unplug the LCD cable from the screen.

STEP 7.

Remove the LCD screen assembly from the notebook. As you can see, the screen still has two mounting brackets attached to the left and right sides.

STEP 8.

In order to remove the mounting bracket, simply remove three screws. Transfer the bracket to the new screen.
